Join us for a morning adventure in the Colorado foothills in search of American Dippers, North America’s only aquatic songbird. These remarkable birds thrive along fast flowing mountain streams, diving and “flying” underwater to catch insects and small fish. We will also keep our eyes and ears open for other nesting birds along the way, including flycatchers, vireos, grosbeaks, goldfinches, and hummingbirds.

Meet on the west side of the Lair o’ Bear parking lot and look for people with binoculars. Composting toilets are available near the parking lot. The trip will cover 2.5 to 3 miles. Bring water, sunscreen, snacks, and binoculars.

OPTIONAL: After our time on the trail, we will head to Blackbird Café in Kittredge for brunch. (A head count will be taken a few days prior via email, so we can notify the restaurant in advance.

This trip is led by Alison Kondler.
