Description
Please join in as we explore the east side of the South Platte River in Chatfield State Park, upstream from the Kingfisher Bridge. Meet in the Platte River Parking Lot. Expect to see sparrows, kingfishers, woodpeckers, raptors, herons, waterfowl, meadowlarks and finches at this time of the year. We hope to see migrating warblers and flycatchers. Plan to walk 2 to 3 miles on mostly hard-packed dirt and gravel. It may be muddy, icy, or slushy depending on the weather. Bring binoculars, water, snack, sunscreen, clothing layers, and micro spikes as needed. Scopes and cameras are welcome. A restroom is available at the beginning of the walk near the parking area. This will be the only restroom available on the bird walk.
This trip is led by Cindy Breidenbach and Angela Grun.
