Description

Join Denver Audubon for a morning of discovery as we participate in the City Nature Challenge, a global effort to document local biodiversity. Whether you're a seasoned naturalist or a curious beginner, this event is the perfect way to explore the wild side of the Kingery Nature Center and contribute to real-world science.

What to Expect:

  • iNaturalist Training: We’ll start with a quick, hands-on tutorial on how to use the free iNaturalist app. You’ll learn how to snap high-quality photos of plants and wildlife that help scientists identify species.

  • The Mini Bioblitz: Armed with your smartphone, we’ll head out into the diverse habitats around the Nature Center. Your mission will be to document as many wild plants, insects, birds, and critters as you can find!

  • Show & Tell: We’ll gather back at the center to upload our findings, see what cool species our group discovered, and watch the Denver area's live leaderboard climb.

What to Bring:

  • A smartphone with the iNaturalist app pre-installed and an account created.

  • Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate layers.

  • Water and sun protection.
