Historic Weir Gulch meanders several miles through the city eventually flowing into the South Platte. We will bird along a nice path in the SW direction, upstream. From our start point at the SW corner of Barnum Park, we will walk as far as Inca Street along the trail and through a few alleys looking for birds at several feeders and brushy habitats. We will swing back to Barnum Lake at the end and look for shore birds, waterfowl and passerines. Weir Gulch isn't a hot spot, not sure why; but it is underbirded, and it is a unique habitat from the Park. At the Inca Street end it is quiet and feels quite rural! A pleasant surprise in the city! I did not find a porta let, and the park toilets aren't open until mid April. However, there is a 7/11 on S. Knox Ct just a block from the trail. Water, a snack, binoculars, good shoes, sunscreen, hat. Check the weather report.

This trip is led by Linda Purcell.
