Summary
Description
Please join in as we explore the east side of the South Platte River in Chatfield State Park. Meet in the Kingfisher Parking Lot. From the parking lot we will walk across the Kingfisher Bridge and go south along the east side of South Platte River to the ponds. Expect to see sparrows, kingfishers, woodpeckers, raptors, herons, waterfowl and finches at this time of the year. There may be some early migrating warblers and flycatchers. Plan to walk 2 to 3 miles on mostly hard-packed dirt and gravel. Bring binoculars, water, snack, sunscreen, and clothing layers as needed. Scopes and cameras are welcome. A vault toilet restroom is available at the beginning of the walk near the parking area. This will be the only restroom available on the bird walk.
This trip is led by Cindy Breidenbach and Angela Grun.
