Description
Welcome to my patch! City Park is Denver's largest developed urban park, and home to some of the more common birds you'll meet in the city. Want to know who that little black and white guy is who hangs out in your backyard? How about that beautiful speckled bird with the orange-ish underparts you swear you heard tapping on a tree? We'll learn to tell a Canada Goose from a Cackling Goose, some of the finer field markings on our regular wintering ducks, who's making all the racket, who's hiding in the reeds, and what bird made that nest. This trip is great for all levels of birders, and especially folks newer to birding, those wanting to hone their ID skills, and anyone who appreciates the different habitats that City Park offers. We'll walk 1.5-2 miles on mostly paved surface, circling the park's 2 main lakes. Bring binocs, water, a snack, and dress in layers. Feel free to bring a scope if you have one. Porta-potties are available.
