Summary

A full day field trip to NE Colorado

Description

This is a co-sponsored trip with Denver Field Ornithologists. Registration is on the DFO page.  Click here to view the event registration page

This full day trip will explore Phillips and Yuma Counties looking for Greater Prairie Chicken, Rough-legged and Ferruginous Hawks, Merlin, Prairie Falcon, Golden Eagle and other raptors, maybe longspurs, and wide open prairie beauty. We will be driving back roads in these counties, through agricultural lands and hills of sand sage. We will probably visit Stalker Lake SWA in Yuma, as we loop back toward Denver. Short-eared Owl is also possible on this trip. Be ready for cold, as always. We will not be out of the cars, too much, though, as this is more a car trip. We will carpool from the meeting spot, and need volunteer drivers. Bring all the food and drinks you will need. Restrooms limited much of the day, but we will have some opportunities, and there is the "prairie door."

This trip is led by David Suddjian.
