Summary
Description
Please join as we explore lakes, reservoirs and the South Platte River at the south end of South Platte Park. In winter, expect to see waterfowl, heron and raptors. Sparrows, kingfishers, woodpeckers, and finches are also in the park at this time of the year. The plan is to walk 2 to 3 miles on mostly hard-packed dirt and gravel. Snowy and icy conditions may be present. Bring binoculars, water, snack, sunscreen, and micro spikes as needed. Scopes and cameras are welcome. A vault toilet restroom is available at the beginning of the walk near the parking area. This will be the only restroom available on the bird walk.
This trip is led by Cindy Breidenbach and Julia Gwinn.
