Summary
Description
Eastern Boulder County offers outstanding opportunities for observing wintering raptors. We'll start at Lagerman Reservoir with a short walk from the main parking area and then drive to several other nearby areas, possibly including Potato Hill, Pella Crossing, or Rabbit Mountain, depending on weather conditions. We will hope to find Golden Eagle and Ferruginous Hawk and maybe Rough-legged, too, and more. Total walking distance will be less than 2 miles on flat trails. Our focus will be on raptor ID and ecology and will be accessible to relative beginners and also useful to intermediate raptor aficionados. We will carpool from the meeting spot. Please bring binoculars, and a scope if you have one. Bring snack and drink and dress in layers. Restroom at the meeting spot only.
This trip is led by David Suddjian.
Meet at Lagerman Reservoir Parking lot. It is at 40.13613787214725, -105.19053024628352 , which is accessed from the south side of Pike Road 0.5 mile west of N. 75th Street in Boulder County.
