Summary
Dr. Kristen Ruegg, co-director of the Bird Genoscape Project, will share about the purpose of this fascinating project and how it contributes to conserving threatened populations of birds.
Description
Did you know that an estimated 1 out of every 2 songbird populations are declining across the Western Hemisphere? Because migratory birds travel vast distances between breeding and wintering areas, understanding why populations are declining has been difficult. Dr. Kristen Ruegg is a professor at CSU and Co-director of the Bird Genoscape Project, which develops genoscapes to connect populations of concern across their full annual cycle. Come hear Kristen speak about this incredible project and how the resulting genoscapes can be used to target limited conservation resources where they are needed most.
