Join Denver Audubon for the Christmas Bird Count! 🎄🕊️
Every winter, bird lovers of all experience levels come together for a timeless tradition: the Audubon Christmas Bird Count. With Denver Audubon, you can be part of a community science effort that helps track the health of bird populations right here in the Denver area and across the hemisphere. Whether you’re a seasoned birder or brand new and just curious, you’re welcome. Volunteers head out in small teams to count every bird they see or hear within our designated “count circle.” Some groups walk trails or parks, others drive quiet roads, and some folks even participate from home by watching their feeders—there’s a role for everyone.
By joining the Christmas Bird Count, you will:
- Spend a winter day outside connecting with nature and community
- Learn to identify local birds with the help of experienced leaders
- Contribute real data that scientists and conservationists rely on
- Help Denver Audubon protect birds and the habitats they depend on
When registering, you will be able to choose from the below areas to join. Meeting points and further details will be provided via email closer to the date of the count. Come be part of this joyful winter tradition and make your birds “count” for conservation. Grab your binoculars (or borrow some), bundle up, and join Denver Audubon for the Christmas Bird Count!
