A rare opportunity to search for Saw-whet owls

Description

This is a co-sponsored trip with Denver Field Ornithologists. Registration is on the DFO page and will open on 12/7/25 at 12PM.  Click here to view the event registration page. 

Please register for this trip only if Saw-whet Owl would be a lifer (new species) for you. This special trip will try for Northern Saw-whet Owl near Ken Caryl Valley. We have a pretty good chance to hear Saw-whet, and we might see one. There are never guarantees!! And we may hear Great Horned Owls, too. We will carpool from the meeting spot in two cars. We will walk only short distances. Expect snowy or icy conditions. We will be standing in place, so dress warm. Footwarmers and handwarmers recommended. Early start, but short duration. A windy forecast, winter weather or new snowfall may lead to cancelation.
