Birdability Week: Bird Sit at Belmar Park

Denver Audubon is proud to sponsor Birdability Week 2025 with a Bird Sit at Belmar Park.  Birdability Week is a time to uplift and amplify the experiences of birders with disabilities and other health concerns, fostering joy, community, and connection with nature. One of the best ways to see birds up close is to simply sit and let them come to you, a practice known as bird sitting.  Don Hall, a Denver Audubon Master Birder will serve as a guide for this sit. We will take a short stroll from the meeting spot along a paved trail to the pavilions overlooking the bird perches on Kountze Lake, where benches are available. We'll look for waterfowl on the lake, as well as raptors overhead and songbirds in the trees and bushes around the lake.

Meeting Spot: 801 S. Yarrow St., parking lot in front of the Belmar Heritage Lakewood Center.

This outing is accessible to those with limited mobility; the walkway and trails are paved. Accessible restrooms are available at the meeting point
