Description
Mid-September in Cherry Creek can turn up a lot of good birds and we'll especially be training our eyes on shorebirds, gulls, and sparrows. All three of these groups are often birds we all can use some brushing up on, so this trip will serve as a way to sharpen our swords during fall migration. Habitats include deep water, marshlands, mixed grasses, and cottonwood riparian areas. Come prepared with water, snacks, close-toed shoes, layered clothing, sun hat, sunscreen, and bug spray. Bring your binoculars and a scope if you have one. Expect to walk between 2 and 3 miles casually on flat surfaces throughout the morning. I will send out an email proceeding the trip to coordinate car pooling options. Looking forward to finding some great birds with all of you!
This trip is led by Ryan Dibala.
Meet at the Prairie Loop lot in Cherry Creek SP. From either park entrance, follow Lake View Rd to the Prairie Loop that is located at the south rim of the reservoir. State Parks pass or day pass required.
