Turkey Count Hayride, Highlands Ranch Backcountry Wilderness
Saturday, March 25, 5-7pm
Enjoy a vehicle-drawn hayride in a restricted access area of the Backcountry Wilderness Area in search of wild turkeys. Watch and listen as jakes and toms gobble and strut for attention. Learn fun facts about these large birds and their behaviors. Keep an eye out for other wildlife including elk, deer, kestrels, red-tailed hawks, bluebirds, and more. Hayrides are subject to weather and road conditions. Activity level: Easy, little to no walking. Elevation 6,300'.

Meeting Place: 6001 Ron King Trail, Littleton, CO 80125 From Highlands Ranch Parkway and Santa Fe/Hwy 85, go south on Santa Fe 3.5 miles to Ron King Trail (black top road). Turn left on Ron King for about 1.5 miles. At the entrance of the parking lot for the Law Enforcement Training Center, take the dirt road that veers to the right. Follow past the cattle guard to park along the fence past the sheds.
Registration required through Audubon only: $10 for Highlands Ranch Residents and ASGD Friends, $12 for nonmembers or nonresidents. Limited to 20 participants.
