Description
Join DFO leader David Suddjian for an all day trip to Southeastern Colorado!
This will be a full day outing to seek Mountain Plovers near Karval and elsewhere, possible migrant Chestnut-collared and Thick-billed longspurs, raptors and wide open prairie beauty! We will focus on southern Lincoln county, visiting some SWAs and lots of county back roads (that is the only kind they have out there :-). Road conditions may be muddy in places. Restrooms limited to a couple of spots, but there is the "brown door." Rated moderate for a full day and long drives, but walking will be minimal. Plan to carpool from the meeting spot. Bring lunch and liquids.
Meet at Lowe's in Castle Rock near the outlet stores. I-25 south, exit at Founders/Meadows Pkwy (exit 184), turn right (west), then right on Santa Fe Dr (Hwy 85), then right on New Beale St. Exact address 1360 New Beale St, Castle Rock, CO 80108
