Description

We'll bird Buchanan Park, which has a nice walking trail with nuthatches, bluebirds, hummingbirds, swallows, sparrows, finches, woodpeckers, and chickadees, and briefly tour Evergreen's Community Garden before proceeding to Evergreen Lake, where we should see bugling elk and migrant birds. Most observation will be on foot, involving some mild to moderate hiking. OPTIONAL: Lunch and craft beers on the patio of the new Lariat Lodge Brewing Company, Evergreen's newest restaurant, located near Main Street. The LLBC is surrounded by forest which should allow for continued birding.

Meeting Place: Bergen Park RTD Park-n-Ride near Evergreen, 1287 County Hwy 65, (SE corner of Hwy 65 and Evergreen Pkwy); then proceed to Evergreen Lake - parking lot closest to the Lake House.

Leader: Audubon Master Birder, Marilyn Rhodes, (H) 303-674-9895; (C) 720-333-2551; email.
