Summary
Description
Join us for a morning of birding the trails around the Denver Audubon Kingery Nature Center during peak breeding season when many birds are singing. This outing will focus on bird song, so come ready to learn fun mnemonics and develop your birding by ear skills. During the outing, we will walk between 2-3 miles of trails, listening for and observing birds like yellow-breasted chat, lazuli bunting, Say's phoebe, gray catbird, cedar waxwing, broad-tailed hummingbird, common yellowthroat, and potentially even American redstart. By the end of our outing, we hope you will have developed sufficient familiarity with the songs and calls of many of our breeding birds. Wear long pants and close-toed shoes due to bare-leg-unfriendly plants such as poison ivy, thistles, and knapweed. We find it helpful to have a daypack, water bottle, and a light snack, along with a pair of binoculars.
This trip is led by David Suddjian and Ryan Dibala.
